What are the advantages of ceramics?

Ceramics have numerous advantages, such as being harder than conventional structure metals, having a low coefficient of friction, an extremely high melting point and corrosion resistance. They also offer amazing material properties and features when compared to conventional steels, plastics or other non-ferrous materials. Additionally, understanding the advantages and limitations existing in modern ceramics’ involvement into public art can give full play to its advantages.

Ceramics offer a range of advantages over other materials, including high hardness, low coefficient of friction, extreme melting point, corrosion resistance, low density, and glazed ceramic does not stain. Ceramics are also good thermal insulators and are generally chemically inert, making them durable. Additionally, some ceramics such as CVD-produced silicon carbide offer high thermal conductivity and some electrical conductivity.
